It is a fact that fish cannot live without water. Well! We can’t live without water either. We may survive for a couple of days but can never live without it for more than 3 days. The uses of water range from drinking to almost every other function in our lives, directly or indirectly.
However, the most important reason for having water is its consumption for hydration as 70% of our body weight is fluid and hydration becomes supremely important for our survival.
Some of the alternatives that have been introduced in the market as hydration alternative to water should never be considered as an ideal alternative. Gatorade may give you energy but the real hydration comes from H2O only. Besides hydration, water is the safest way to detoxifying and cleansing your body. Some of the most important reasons for constant hydration include:
You can never fire on full cylinders till the time you are hydrated properly. Water helps in completing certain enzymatic activities which contribute majorly towards good night sleep and subsequent energy reservoir for daily routine (and especially any kind of sporting/physical activity).
Control Blood pressure
Since our body is comprised of 70% water, the blood circulation highly depends upon the quality of hydration of your body. When a body is completely hydrated, the blood is above 90% comprised of water. In this scenario the blood circulates easily in the arteries causing lower pressure on them. Therefore proper hydration ensures control of blood pressure.
Having a clear unmarked glowing skin is one of the desires of every human (especially women). Ample amounts of water safeguards from acne and other skin disorders automatically. The skin practically glows if you attain certain amount of hydration in your body on a daily basis. This is owing to the detoxifying properties of water.
Water has a great potential of reducing digestive disorders like ulcers, bloating, gas, gastritis, acid reflux, and IBS. The issues of constipation and gastronomical problems can also be vented out with proper hydration of the body on daily basis. Most toxins that cause problems in the digestive system can be flushed away with proper hydration.
Weight loss Therapy
Who doesn’t want to lose extra pounds around the waist without having to spend thousands on an expensive gym. Water is the solution to common weight loss problems. Not only can it be used as an ingredient that provides fulfilling feeling at the times of unwanted hunger but is also responsible for keeping the body cells energized. These energized cells do not trigger hunger signals to the brain (which translates into the quest for more food) and as a result you eat less. It means lesser food intake, less weight gain and loss of unwanted body fats.
Boosting Brain Power
Cognitive performance is directly related to amount of water intake every day. Brain needs proper hydration for properly functioning brain processing power and cognitive functions. Research proves that people who were completely hydrated did better on cognitive exercises than those who were not.
6 Hacks to Consume More Water
64 ounces or 8- 8 ounce glasses is the recommended amount of water we should consume on a daily basis, but let’s be honest most of us barely come close to this recommendation. Creative ways to prevent your body from becoming the Sahara Dessert include:
1.) Invest in a water bottle that you will actually use and keep it close to you. Many of my friends use Yeti, Ozark Trail, but I am different. I went for Bevgo Infuser Water Bottle for versatility
2.) Use an app to track your water consumption. Yes, there is an app for that.
3.) Infuse your water with fruits or herbs- Believe it or not, most have issues with the taste of water. Adding fruit and herbs like berries, citrus and mint may give your taste buds the boost they need to allow you to drink more water.
4.) Use a straw– You tend to drink faster and more using a straw
5.) Spice things up with other water based beverages- unsweetened hot or cold tea, but be careful not to consume too much caffeine.
6.) Hydrate with water based foods- Foods like cucumbers, salad greens, grapefruit, cantaloupe and watermelon all have high water content and can help keep you hydrated throughout the day.
Hydration have lots of apparent and hidden benefits. So drink up and Happy hydration.
